Sweden have adopted national legislation which goes beyond the corresponding minimum requirements laid down in Union, especially in areas such as animal welfare and the environment. Such requirements may have a negative impact on the financial and economic situation of the farmers concerned. The Commission suggests that it will be possible to grant support for commitments contributing to compliance with mandatory requirements imposed by national law.
In this project, we investigate how Sweden's competitiveness could be affected if support for national environmental and climate commitments were allowed in the EU using the CAPRI simulation model.
The project will be completed in autumn 2025.
