From plant to food – the extent and development of food production in Scania
Scania is important in all stages of food production from farm to wholesale. This study illustrates with the help of detailed firm statistics the extent and growth of Scanian and Swedish food production and distribution the years 1999 and 2010. The study shows that: - 25 percent of Swedish food production is located in Scania
- On-farm processing is growing in importance although it still is a minor activity in food production
- Exports are becoming increasingly important for both small and large food processors
