This study is written in Swedish but has a summary in English.

In this report, we examine how the Rural Development Programme (2014–2022) has affected the socioeconomic development of rural areas in Sweden. The results show that Sweden's rural areas experienced positive socioeconomic development between 2007 and 2022 – incomes are rising, employment is high, and fewer people live with low economic standards compared to the national average. Moreover, disparities between rural areas are decreasing, and in several respects, rural areas are performing better than urban areas. However, based on the available data, it has not been possible to confidently attribute this development to the measures within the Rural Development Programme.

The report is written for the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
