Structural change in agriculture is an ongoing process and the past 20 years have been particularly eventful due to the Swedish deregulation in the early 1990s, the Swedish EU membership a few years later in combination with a continuing evolution towards more market-oriented agricultural policies. It is therefore interesting to study what has happened in agriculture during this period.
How do different types of farms develop? What types of farms have expanded their production during these years and what types of farms have left the sector? Are there any regional differences in the farm sector development process?
These issues are analyzed in the report using data from the Swedish Farm Register (LBR).
