Ecosystem-based Fish Management

Ecosystem-based management is a strategy for nature conservation and is currently an important aspect of conservation policies, e.g. as part of Swedish management of fish resources. An important component of ecosystem based management is the role of human activities and well-being as part of the ecosystem. Economic analysis is important for ecosystem based fish management in order to find policy instruments that are efficient for reaching the management objectives. The purpose of this project is to provide input on how economic analyses and methodologies can contribute to Swedish ecosystem based fish management.

The project is financed by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, and is a collaboration between AgriFood, the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment, Luleå University of Technology, and Umeå University.

The project will end in spring 2020.
