Fisheries and tourism are interlinked in many coastal regions where e.g. traditional fishing communities have developed to tourist destinations and recreational fishers are attracted to coastal waters and salmon rivers. In this study both the commercial and recreational fisheries’ contribution to tourism is analyzed. The project contains case studies from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The Danish and Swedish cases focus on commercial fisheries, while the Norwegian and Finnish cases focus on recreational fisheries. AgriFood is responsible for the Swedish part of the project which will analyze the correlation between commercial fisheries and local restaurants in Swedish coastal communities.
The project is in collaboration with University of Copenhagen, University in Tromsø, and the Finnish Natural Resources Institute (LUKE). The project will be finalised in spring 2023.
