Ammonia emissions contribute to reduced air quality and to environmental problems such as eutrophication, acidification and global warming. Today it is mainly the agricultural sector, and in particular the handling and storage of manure, that contributes to ammonia emissions in Sweden. There are several actions farmers can take to reduce their emissions, but these are currently not carried out to the extent necessary for Sweden to reach its goal regarding reduced ammonia emissions. The purpose of this project is to analyze the potential of policy instruments to increase the uptake of measures that lead to reduced ammonia emissions in agriculture. The project is financed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and will be completed in 2023.
