In recent times, we have seen sharply rising prices for food and energy, among other things, as well as higher interest rates, which has eroded consumers' purchasing power. Within the project, we will study how this has affected food consumption. By analysing detailed information about consumers' purchases in grocery stores (via so-called scanner data), we have the opportunity to study consumption shifts within and between broader product groups, for consumers in different regions of Sweden. For selected product groups, we can also study how the price increases have affected the sales of, for example, private label goods and organic goods.
The project will be completed in 2025 and receives funding from theThe Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council.
