Improving future African swine fever outbreak management

The management of the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in Sweden has been successful, but it has impacted society in various ways. The aim of this project is to better understand the consequences of the outbreak and measures taken to eradicate ASF in Sweden.

To achieve this, the project contributes knowledge on disease transmission and management that can help improve systems for early detection and outbreak response. AgriFood analyzes the socio-economic consequences of the management of the outbreak and potential future outbreaks to highlight the value of different control measures and preventive actions.

The project is a multidisciplinary cooperation led by The Swedish Veterinary Agency with the title: Improving future African swine fever outbreak management through multidisciplinary partnership and learning. The project is funded under a research grant from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
